This antique desk lamp is made of cast iron.
The fixture is black and hinges at the lamp base and at the lampshade.
The lampshade is made of green enamel.
The Horax brand is stamped into the hood.
The on and off switch is mounted in the heavy cast iron base.
This Bauhaus notary or banker's lamp is often attributed to the Horax brand.
But “Horax” was the trademark of this type of lamp.
The manufacturer was Dr. Ing. Schneider & Co, a factory for special lighting technology founded in 1911.
