Old lamps can have a bayonet fitting and you might want to replace it. When the fitting is loosened, the threaded end (between fitting and fitting) often remains in the fitting. The fittings as we use them have a different internal thread. Your new fitting does not fit on the threaded rod that was left behind after removing the old bayonet fitting on the old fixture. This coupling piece (M10) can be screwed onto the threaded end and then you can screw the new fitting over the coupling piece offered here. This is a coupling piece of 10 mm / 0.39 inch for fittings with a 10 mm / 0.39 inch opening, you can also express this as: M10 x 1.
We also have this reducing nipple in brass.
